History of the Computer Center
The Grant Community Computing Center was created in 2011 by the Wired Road Authority, in partnership with Grayson County and with the help of a federal USDA grant. When the grant ended in 2014, the County Board of Supervisors decided to transfer operation of the Center to the Goodwill Grange #959, and the name of the center was changed to the Grant Computer Center. In honor of his dedication to the community and his major role in fostering the center, the conference room in the Computer Center was dedicated as the Mike Maynard Conference Room. Since 2014, James Parks, Master of the Goodwill Grange, served as Director of the Computer Center, and Wilma Reedy as the Volunteer Coordinator. They guided the Center skillfully through modernization and updates, and sustained the Center through the Covid epidemic. In early 2025, Ken Kreuzer took the helm as Director of the Center. The Grant Computer Center is staffed solely by non-paid volunteers, who selflessly devote their time to help their fellow community members access the latest in computer technology and broadband internet access.
Our Mission
The goal of the Grant Computer Center is to provide the community with friendly, competent service while they utilize business-class equipment, computers and access to high-speed Broadband Internet.
Grant Goodwill Grange 959 operates the Grant Computer Center using only unpaid volunteers. We greatly appreciate the financial support from Grayson County and from a very special private donor.
